ode to a breast pump

My device is black and square-

Open the flap! What’s in there?

Pump!

You pump me on the sofa

Or in the server room

In an airport bathroom

Morning, night and noon.

I’ve used you for two babies

To make sure they have food.

I pump and pump and pump away

Even when not in the mood.

I strap you to my bike,

Pump!

Or use you on a hike,

Pump!

Filling up your bottles

Drip by drip by drip

And giving it to the little one

Sip by sip by sip.

You speak to me when I’m sleepy

And make me kinda weepy.

And all I have to say,

Is that it’s only 7 more months until I throw you away,

Pump!
