august iphone

Riding big kid style in the shuttle. Dinner at the hotel. Snuggling. Taxi riders (next time I'll bring the motion sickness meds)

Backyard fun

Goofing at the Bean. Silly girls. Taxis are fun! Good Daddy.

Fun at the fountains
Family shots at Wrigley

Biking for balls. Because it's sparkly. Cowgirls. Catching virtual beans.
Loving Ariel after dinner. She's wrapped in a towel. Chalk art. They went through A LOT of chalk.

All girl. Gorgeous day at the lake. Home again. Great travelers.

"Swimming." Scuba Steve. Nerd. Looking for pennies.
I like stripes. Tigger's dinner. Reminds me of the time I held up Kathryn's wedding dress while she peed. Typing letters.

Children's Museum with Nikki

Demo! Field desk…with my drawings!

Some light reading. Some light sleeping. She doesn't travel lightly. He doesn't sleep lightly.

I brought him ice cream on his last day of sports camp. Dinner at Whole Foods. Who doesn't separate their veggies straws by color? "Can you scratch my back so softly?"

Evening bike ride. Sometimes it's easier to carry the damn thing. Hopscotch. The only acceptable tennis shoes and these took me 45 minutes of convincing her
School kids

Distilled just for Turbow. Alley flowers. Getting high. Pesto potatoes - "they look like goose poop."

Rockies game with my office
A weather forecast never before seen in Denver. Writing down stats from his football cards (thanks, Papa!) My coupon lovers - please note that both Cathryn and Scott forwarded me a coupon for Tag within 9 minutes of each other (this is SO endearing to me)

Surprise school pick-up by mommy. Rainy day. They will literally watch TV in any condition in any position. The picture that most accurately captures my children.

avery's first day of school

Conversely, tennis shoes are the only ones Avery has

Running to daddy. You would never know we were just at home with him 5 minutes ago.

Love this Daddy/children shot

Right to work. No moon sand in kindergarten!

We don't take for granted that Avery is the kind of kid who doesn't even blink when we send him to a different school every year. Even though we love Teller, the kindergarten program at Palmer was a much better fit for him academically. Plus, his good friend Lily made the switch as well. We are so excited about this year and his teacher, Mrs. Silva is incredible. Scott and I toured the school last year a few days before summer vacation and she seemed as excited and invested in the kids as if it had been the first day of school. Plus, the students were mature, autonomous, and working hard. They were all excited about their accomplishments and seemed to be having a great time. Scott and I knew immediately that it was the right place for Avery and so far, it has been. He is thriving and the work that comes home is amazing. Even though I had to make a few calls to get the kids a second recess, Palmer has been a great choice.

vivienne's first day of school

Those shoes were the compromise for tennis shoes. She has tennis shoes now, but it took 45 minutes of convincing and one melt down to get her into them.
Devil in Disguise. She's wearing the locket my mom had as a little girl.

Walking in with brother

I don't think Nikki has ever missed a first day

Jumped right into the moon sand
Here we go again. School. Viv is doing two mornings a week at Temple Emanuel again and has really enjoyed making new friends even though I think she would prefer to stay home with me or Nikki.

lakeside

Avery's first roller coaster ride.

Cheney and Rome invited us to Lakeside Amusement Park one evening and we happily joined them. This place is great. Super cheap, retro, kinda dingy but it has everything you'd want for a relaxing evening at an old-school amusement park. The rides were cut short because a torrential rain storm was upon us. We made it back to the car just in time, but I'm sure we'll be back next summer.

All photos courtesy of my iPhone, maybe next time I'll bring my big camera.
