In my search to find acceptable bodies of water in the Denver area, the kids and I traveled to Boulder Reservoir for Labor Day since it was voted one of the top places to swim. So yeah, it's just a big gravel pit with water in it. The water was pretty clean, but the "sand" was very gravely (surprise, surprise) and not great for playing in. The kids didn't seem to mind and had some fun, but I think one time to this 'best of' place was enough and further emphasizes that Evergreen Lake is by far our favorite.
