camp shwayder

We headed up to Camp Shwayder for a day of family camp
It was wonderful to escape to the mountains for a few hours

Getting geared up for the zip line
I think we all underestimated how high up it would be
Reviewing all of the safety information
Avery started climbing without hesitation

Insanely high for a 6 year old
He made it to the top perfectly, but was too scared to take the zip line down and climbed back down instead.
Viv also wanted a turn

Getting geared up

She starts off all well and good but...
About 10' up she decides it's "too high" and comes back down.

After his first turn, he REALLY regretted not doing the zip line. Luckily, there was enough time for a second turn so he scampered back up the tree.

Scott and I were so proud of him for wanting to conquer his fear.
With just a breath, he stepped off the platform.

As he whizzed by me, he had this very serious look on his face, and I thought that he was going to be scared for life

But when he finally came to a stand still, he broke out into a huge, proud grin!
No long-term damage done

Returning the rope
We were endlessly proud of Avery and how he experience regret, but decided to try again to conquer his fear. It was an amazing experience.
